Whose Story:

History Mundane history This and that shady story Is still a shifting cloth you can't see Not that it matters now Where from and how Caught as you are In that vicious merry-go-round of lies betrayal and war Scattered across time Buried and burnt Changing and rearranging The shadows and legends of "great nations" Mesopotamia, Egypt, Greece, Rome Come and gone To drop but a few Built and felled by the same toxic glue Different period, different layers Unable to go home Always the same despicable players As the world turns Power games under the guise of heaven and hell The good word, the reverence, the books Glory for a select few Licks and tricks for sheep like you That snaking river the subtle ebb and the flow All you have is what they want you to know History? Whose political story? Modern times Olden rhymes As the circle comes around The land of the free How much longer will it be? It's not IF but when Another so-called "great nation" is relegated to the dustbin As inexorable change comes marching Eagles and dragons Colliding and falling One wins They all lose The church has finally run out of pews History? Whose holy story? Behold a light Out of the darkness Nothing looks or sounds quite right Someday on some witching hour The yellow fever Changes your label To past super power The familiar is suddenly An unfamiliar herd of terrestrial and not so strangers In unrecognizable cosmic cars Is your train headed to or from mars? History? Whose galactic story?
