A Rose For Niambi

I saw her
Niambi
In The Bronx
My misplaced love
In the shadows of Yankee Stadium
My raven-headed dove
On a sidewalk, that seemed like a podium
Serendipity
Amidst the confusion
Niambi
Time has tarnished the dime
Slightly
Maturing the prize
Enhancing the beauty within and around
The irresistible eyes
There…
Early noon sunshine, the magic oil
Her face a priceless lamp
Lit by a supernatural light, an easy smile
Not five steps from me
I turned and saw
Niambi

She looked directly at her…
Hunter
And recognized
Instantly
The past in the present
The starry love-marred history
The spirited wings of Galaexy
Nervous as can be
She was with HE
Niambi
Without a sound
She made a plea
And I stood my ground
As a black taxi hustled its horn
The death knell
