Lady Chance

I was too young to understand
The webbed pearly hand
Touching my soul
And the story of a legendary world
Without words that it told
A destined circumstance
The Ghost and the spirit
Of
Lady Chance

I was too young to understand
The complicated tale
The many fables
The misconception of a tail
Within the lines of the terrestrial human game
Awed by the powerful silence
The first time she called my name
A fascinating creature from some fairytale space
In the shadow of Chances apex
Looking beyond the earthly face

I was too young to understand
Exactly what she saw
But old enough to know
We both needed so much more
A secret I would treasure beneath the boyish hat
Special moments on a Ghaut's edge
The white and silver cat
An alien, melodic tone, pitched beyond the normal ear
In the fading Carib sunlight
Magical vibes
I was and wasn't the only one there

I was too young to understand
How I comprehended it all
She was crazy in love
With a Shade that came whenever she called
The words to an unheard song evoking a memory tear
Roaming the darkened isle without a sense of fear
I didn't understand
The cursed limitations of mere man
The mythic implications
Of the shifting black sand
I'm glad you finally got your comb back
Mermaid I always understood
The mountainous view behind the eyes of MaC

And…
You are the top
I'm the bottom
Of a vine that runs through eternity
In “full” uniform
I will be there
The perfect ebon storm
Raging to dance
For my
Lady Chance

I was too young to understand
That I've always understood

Prologue:
Forget nothing
Forgive nothing
Don't ever surrender your cosmic hymn
