They've always been up there.
Since the beginning of time.
Twinkling, fascinating, puzzling.
Gazing down on mankind.

Many have looked back.
Through lens small and large they peer.
Yet others dream of travelling to them. 
All wondering what's up there.

He's not sure, nor does he really care.
It's not about any sort of mystery.
Each night he climbs up here, weather permitting, 
a lone man in pursuit of timeless beauty.

Doesn't carry a telescope or binoculars. 
Nope, no fancy aids for this spy.
In this man's eyes, there's nothing quite as wonderful, 
as a moonless, cloudless, starry nightsky.
