Betrayal The subtle layers of an onion Close your eyes And look closely as truth peels away the lies That shifty blur No firm lines between friend and foe That scent Isn't that something relative you should know? There are the usual questions and answers Every defrauder has a convincing explanation Each peel It's own revelation Standing in the midst of a storming night There A face Faces A new black light Can anything make that right? And so As the tide turns outwards in The awakening Behind the fancy door The shiny apple A serpent festering at the core Beholding your plight Can anything make that right? Remorse The cart after the horse You grinned and you ate Willingly Schemed and lusted In the ugly bosom of hate So, in hindsight What price? What price? Can anything make that right?
