Beginnings - For my M

I was with a friend
Remembering
An encounter sometime back then
Mermaid you were young
Not quite a woman
No longer a child
Beyond your years wisdom and guile
From both sides they rushed to us
Firestorms, ancient rivers
On whose wings sailed
Tabooed darts of prejudice and mistrust
One bitter song
Wrong, all wrong
But we were young
And headstrong
Then as now
Our own field we would plough
It happened on a glance
Beneath shades of a mythical romance
I was that odd commodity
A dragon with eyes from your tree
And in thee
Ran pure and mighty
A stream of red that evoked in me
Passion and mystery
deja vu
Parts of my soul I found in you
Every brother
Every mother
The same song
Wrong, all wrong
But we were young
And headstrong
Then as now

Perhaps it was destiny
Our chosen destination
And the resulting chain reaction
Perhaps it was destiny
That chained you and me
Bonded us like hand and glove
With a kiss of
The purest love
The ultimate heart and soul call
You never get over that first amorous fall
We were young and headstrong
Prince of Tar
Prince of swords
Prince of scales
Prince of words
I have the tools
But yet I'm failing
What I need to say
You'll have to hear with “feeling”
I don't have much of anything
But I have it all when I hear you sing
It's hurting today still
There is no quick fix, no magic pill

Every meeting is a beginning
Every ending is a beginning
Of something
Mermaid we were young
Time immortal
We are still as strong
